Blanson Career and Technical Education High School and Young Women’s Leadership Academy have been named to the Educational Results Partnership’s 2025 Honor Roll list of Texas’ top-performing schools.

This marks the 11th year Educational Results Partnership (ERP) has compiled the Honor Roll, which recognizes top public schools, school districts and charter schools across Texas that outperform their peers in closing achievement gaps — particularly among higher-poverty and historically disadvantaged student populations.

This year, 1,076 schools statewide earned a spot on the Honor Roll, representing approximately 15 percent of all eligible schools in Texas. Results are based on student performance data from the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) spanning the 2023–2025 academic years.

The Honor Roll highlights campuses where students are mastering the fundamental skills valued by employers. Kashae Knox of Educational Results Partnership said the organization is proud to recognize each campus for its performance and commitment to accelerating student learning in critical academic areas.

“We are proud to recognize each campus as higher-performing and as models of best practices for accelerating student learning in the critical areas of reading, writing, math and science,” Knox said.

Campus leaders at both Blanson CTE and Young Women’s Leadership Academy described the recognition as the result of a collective effort.

Blanson Principal Josh Van Donsel said the award reflects the school’s mission-driven focus on career-centered learning and workforce preparation.

“When reviewing the criteria that this group focused on, it really is a team effort award,” Van Donsel said. “The focus was on career-centered skills, and that is certainly the focus of Blanson all the way down to our mission statement. Teachers at Blanson focus on workforce skills every day with our students, no matter what class they are in. The CTE department works closely with teachers to give them the tools and support they need to make an impact on student outcomes.”

Van Donsel also credited district leadership for supporting innovative approaches that strengthen college, career and military readiness outcomes.

“I also want to thank our executive leadership team for letting us work outside the box with ideas that improve CCMR outcomes with certifications, TSI and advanced academic pursuits,” he said.

At Young Women’s Leadership Academy, this marks the second consecutive year the campus has earned Honor Roll recognition.

Principal Dr. Jericah Jackson said the milestone serves as a reminder of the standards the campus strives to uphold daily.

“This achievement directly results from our teachers’ dedication and hard work,” Jackson said. “Their ability to connect, inspire and impact our students’ achievement and growth daily allows us to reach these heights.”

Both campuses’ inclusion on the 2025 Honor Roll underscores their commitment to academic excellence and closing achievement gaps while preparing students with the skills necessary for success beyond high school.
